Editorial policy

InkPatterns is a tattoo planning and inspiration library. This page explains how the previews are produced, what the written guidance is and is not, and how to get something corrected. See also the about page.

How the design previews are made

Every design on InkPatterns is a digitally rendered placement mockup: the artwork is composed onto the body area it was drawn for so you can judge scale, orientation and visibility. Previews are references for planning and for briefing an artist. They are not photographs of healed tattoos, and the final size and line weight are always decided with your artist.

What we say about size, visibility and fit

Size ranges, visibility ratings and "typical for this placement" notes describe the placement, not a measurement of an individual design. They are derived from the body area and the style of linework and are written to help you compare options, not to replace a consultation.

Pain, healing and aftercare content

Guides that discuss pain, healing or aftercare summarise common artist practice and widely shared planning knowledge. They are general guidance, not medical advice. They carry a visible note saying so, and we do not publish product claims, healing timelines presented as guarantees, or quotes attributed to named professionals unless that person has reviewed the text.

What we do not do

We do not invent artist credentials, customer reviews, statistics or expert quotes. We do not generate pages for keyword combinations that have no distinct purpose; a placement, style, motif or size page only exists when it can show a meaningful set of previews.

Dates, updates and corrections

Guides show the date they were last updated. If a page is inaccurate, outdated or misleading, email hello@inkpatterns.com with the page URL and what should change. Corrections that affect meaning are made on the page itself rather than in a separate log.
